About Moving on Counselling - Counsellor near Wimbonre and Blandford.
Supporting You Through Life’s Challenges
Hi, my name is Jo, and I work in private counselling practice offering both face-to-face counselling and online counselling, with clients across all age ranges, from 18 up to and beyond retirement. I have the fullest commitment to offering a service that is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and inclusive manner. If you are looking for a counsellor near Wimborne or Blandford, you’re not alone. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and reaching out for support is a brave first step. At Moving On Counselling, I provide a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, and begin to move forward.
My Background
I have thirty years’ experience working as a business professional — employed as a buyer for a national retailer and also owning and running my own company. I enjoyed the fast pace of life — meeting deadlines and hitting targets — and I am very aware of how working in highly stressful environments can affect all areas of life. Many of us try to balance busy work life with busy family life, and it can take a toll on emotional wellbeing.
I am passionate about helping others bring balance into their lives, wherever the imbalances may lie. Understanding the way our actions, emotions, and thoughts all relate to each other can be a key to unlocking frustrations and unhappiness we may experience.
My Approach
I take a person-centred, compassionate approach to counselling. Our work together is guided by your needs and pace, with no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’ve attended counselling before, my aim is to create a warm, supportive environment where you feel heard and understood.
As Ashleigh Warner says:
'Beneath every behaviour is a feeling. And beneath every feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause not the symptom'.
What I Offer
I provide professional counselling for a range of emotional and mental health concerns, including:
- Anxiety, stress, and worry
- Low mood or depression
- Bereavement and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Life transitions and change
- Feeling stuck or uncertain
Sessions are tailored to your individual needs, helping you explore your feelings, develop coping strategies, and regain a sense of control and balance.
Professional Qualifications
I am a fully qualified and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing UK (EMDR), committed to ethical practice and ongoing professional development. Being part of a professional counselling body ensures I uphold high standards of care, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Take the First Step
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting. My aim is to provide a welcoming, safe space where you can begin to explore your feelings and work towards positive change.
